Orientation
Where is your problem?
Choose the section of the spine where you feel something. You will see which symptoms are typical there and what we explain about them.
Cervical spine
Neck pain, pain radiating into the shoulder, arm and hand, tingling in the fingers. Seven vertebrae that carry the head and are the most mobile in the spine.
Conditions
Thoracic spine
Pain between the shoulder blades, radiating around the chest like a belt. Twelve vertebrae, stabilised by the ribs and therefore less often the cause of symptoms.
Lumbar spine
Low back pain, pain radiating into the leg, heaviness when walking. Five vertebrae that carry most of the weight and are most often affected.

Deep-seated pain to the side above the buttock, often when standing up or climbing stairs. The link between the spine and the pelvis.

How we work
Three things you can rely on.
Examination first, then the scan.
MRI scans show wear and tear in almost everyone. Whether it explains your symptoms is decided by the examination, not by the wording of the report.
Conservative where possible. Surgical where necessary.
Most spinal complaints can be treated without surgery. Where an operation makes sense, we explain the procedure, its limits and its risks before you decide.
A second opinion is not a sign of distrust.
If you have been advised to have surgery elsewhere, we listen and tell you frankly whether we see it the same way. This right has been enshrined in law since 2021.
